Washington drivers pay less than the national average on car insurance.
Who would have thought?
But, according to the 2010 WebIns Car Insurance Affordability Index, it’s the truth: At 2.61%, Washington State ranks as the 14th most affordable state when it comes to percentage of family income being spent on car insurance.
This compares to Massachussetts, which at 1.84% leads the pack as the nation’s most affordable state. Louisiana, with 6.93%, and Oklahoma, with 4.94%, on the other hand, take by far the biggest chunk out of the family budget.
Our neighbors in Oregon and Idaho come in at 2.91% and 2.56% respectively, which puts the Pacific Northwest states siginificantly below the nationwide average of 3.46%.
