It’s never too early to think about Christmas! At least not when you can think of 9,000 children from over 3,000 families that you’d like to bless with a gift.
For the ‘elves’ at Everett Christmas House, Christmas is a year-round affair. Since 1981, when Christmas House founder Ron Fraser held the first Christmas gift give-away in his garage, the organization has seen a steady growth and has been able to serve more Snohomish County families in need. The concept is easy: Christmas House provides an opportunity for qualifying, low-income, Snohomish County parents to select free holiday gifts for their children age infant – 18 yrs old. Their temporary Christmas ‘store’ is located in the Boys & Girls Club gym and opens in December. Christmas House accepts donations of new toys and games, as well as financial contributions.
The McClain team has a soft spot for all things Christmas! Team member, Caitlin, fondly remembers a tradition that her mom held near and dear:
“Every year around Christmas time, we would go Christmas shopping with her and help pick out gifts for children in need that we would then donate. Christmas House is just such a place where gifts can be donated, and then the parents can ‘shop’ for, or select, free holiday gifts for their children. I just remember that really well from my childhood.”
